Cygwin

Cygwin is a MS Windows application that provides an UNIX environment allowing Linux/UNIX applications to be used on the MS Windows operating system.

Cygwin allows you to install common Linux/UNIX applications and utilities such as:

• Secure communication programs such as ssh, sftp, scp
• Shells such as bash, tcsh
• Editors such as vi and emacs
• Version control systems such as cvs
• Compilers such as g++
• X-Windows

Many Linux/UNIX applications are available for Cygwin, and almost all Linux/UNIX applications can be built to run in Cygwin.
